CMMC October 2020 update

CMMC October 2020 update

From : Richard Culverhouse, chairman of the Classic & Modern Motorsport Club ukmotorsport@aol.com

We are coming to the end of what must be one of the most unnerving seasons for everybody. Who would have guessed back in January what would transpire in March? I am sure that we were all glad that we were allowed, in July, to get back to the sport we love.

We lost our ever popular Classic and Modern Motorsport Festival at Mallory back in June but we had a very successful Classic and Modern Motorsport Day at Cadwell at the end of July which was thoroughly enjoyed by competitors and spectators alike.

It’s not quite the end of the season yet for the Club. This Sunday 25th October the Southern group are at the BRSCC Formula Ford Festival. To finish off the season we are having our long awaited Race Meeting at Lydden Hill on Saturday November 14th. Entry forms etc are on our website www.cmmcs.co.uk. We will accept guest entries for the Southern groups series upon application and there are spaces in the CMMC Classic Challenge. Come on, support the Club at this event.

CMMC supports new series
We have taken a new series under our wing in 2021, Ecurie Classic Racing. They are launching a new “Back to Basics” club racing series for pre 1966, sports and GT cars up to 2700cc. Some exceptions are permissible by invitation. Whilst full HTP papers are not mandatory, cars will be required to run in period to FIA appendix K on Dunlop Tyres. With the ethos on gentlemanly club racing, we would like to hear your views on what you would like to see put into place over the forthcoming months to establish affordable competitive racing, which also doesn’t break the bank, run in a friendly, fun environment on and off the track. All regulations and a provisional calendar for 2021 will be out soon. To spread the word and help the successful Ecurie journey, Paul Lawrence the Championship Press Officer, has written an article which was published in Motorsport News last week. Please do contact them and us to share your thoughts and pass on the great news with your friends, all feedback is welcome! Ecurie Classic Racing. CMMC already planning 2021
Yes, we are well into planning for 2021. Our favourites of Mallory and Cadwell have already been fixed for June 13th and July 25th respectively. Hopefully we will also be involved in Race Meetings at Brands Hatch, Snetterton and Silverstone and if we get enough support, bought races at Donington and Castle Combe. Provided we get the support at Lydden next month we might even do two events there next year.

And finally, Rachel Bourne of Bourne Photographic has been following CMMC members at events since Cadwell. Please follow the links below for a range of photos:
