Our club chairman working for us. Thank you Richard

A message from Richard Culverhouse, chairman of Classic and Modern Motorsport Club.

This week should have seen the start of the 2020 season of motorsport for the Club. The Classic side should have been at Castle Combe last Monday for what should have been the first race of the Classic Era Challenge and the Southern Group should have been at Silverstone this coming Sunday.

But we all know of the challenging times we are in and quite rightly, motorsport is following the government instructions with MS UK not sanctioning motorsport until at least the end of June. We all know that, what we don’t know is when we can all get back out on track.

We had a great season lined up for you and thank you all for your registrations. My thanks also goes to the sponsors who are supporting us. I have asked the various Clubs where we would have been taking race slots, if they can accommodate us later in the year. However that may not be possible due to restrictions in vacant Race Meeting slots at venues. I also asked Mallory if there was a chance to have a date there later in the year as we lost our popular June meeting date. I am still awaiting a reply from them. We are still negotiating a slot in October for a Race Meeting at Lydden similar to the one we ran last October (less the rain!).

At the present time we are still hopeful of running our Cadwell Park Race Meeting on July 26th, dependant of course on MS UK granting a permit.

I also recognise that the present situation is having a great financial affect on many of our members, so much so that many just will not be able to afford to start racing again in 2020. We have always tried to give exceptional value racing and will strive to do so when racing resumes. We are working with others in motorsport to try and be as cost effective as possible.

We will update you more when we know more.

Richard Culverhouse
